Exciting News

I am SUPER excited to announce that Hanger Threads clothing will be somewhere other than Etsy! A few select items will be dressed on three different mannequins at a shoe boutique in Brookhaven called Happy Feet.

Happy Feet is an awesome shoe boutique in Brookhaven, ATL that carries a wide variety of shoes including name brands like Jeffrey Campbell (my shoe boyfriend), Vince Camuto, Poetic License, Dolce Vita, Nicole, Toms and LOTS more. The real kicker about Happy Feet is they also specialize in pedicures! They have a really unique set up in the store with adorable pedicure chairs and they will hook you up with a pedicure right then and there. The owner, Audrey, is a real gem. She is ridiculously sweet and easy to talk to. She has a great eye for fashion and luckily I have been able to spend some time with her this week discussing cool ideas for her store, the boutique I work in and Hanger Threads.

Audrey came in looking for ideas about what to do with her brand new amazing mannequins that had just arrived in her store. With Happy Feet being a shoe boutique only, Audrey was looking for a way to dress the girls to match her shoe selection without too much hassle. After brainstorming with her, we both decided that dressing them with Hanger Threads clothing would be PERFECT!

On Thursday I gave Audrey a few items that were fun for spring before she would have her one-year anniversary party. I went in on Saturday to check them out and they looked great! I am so excited that Hanger Threads is getting out there. I will soon be able to sell items to customers who are interested through Square, the application for smartphones where you can literally swipe someone's card and it goes directly to Hanger Thread's account. I am also working on business cards to leave there for customers who want to check it out!

Here are the items in their window now, they are going to try and change the items out every couple of weeks:

Hanger Threads has a blog!!

First things first- Who am I?

My name is Alice and I live in Atlanta. I am a 25 year old female and I work at a women's clothing boutique in Brookhaven as an assistant manager. I live in the Edgewood/Kirkwood area of Atlanta and grew up in Decatur.

What is this blog about?

This blog is not about me but it is promoting something that I love: Vintage clothing and accessories. I started an etsy account, Hanger Threads, where I sell vintage clothing and accessories that I have handpicked and selected to share to the world (er...etsy world).

How did I get started?

The day I decided to start selling vintage clothing on etsy, I was going through my closets and realized how many pieces I have that I have never worn. I felt like it was selfish of me to keep these amazing pieces just to look at. I wanted to find good and loving homes for each and every item so...etsy was my first pick!

What kind of items do I sell and how did I select them?

Hanger Threads is a collection of gently worn clothing and accessories that are 20 years or older. I started with the vintage clothing I currently owned which mostly consisted of pastel grandma sweaters and brightly colored t-shirts ( I am a sucker for neons and pastels...) After I began to slowly start building Hanger Threads I started shopping for a much wider clientele. I started researching successful sellers on etsy and noticed what kind of items sold and what didn't. I would like to say that the age range that I try and target is between 20-35. Working in a women's boutique allows me to stay updated with the current trends and styles, and because fashion trends are always recycled it makes it easy for me to find vintage clothing that fits the trend.

How do I price my items?

The price of each item depends on the quality and shape that it is in. A vintage item is an item that has been previously worn so not every item is in perfect condition. Almost all of the items that I have chosen are in the best condition, but a few have small stains or marks. If an item has a flaw, I will lower the price point and note it in the description. In the past I have also negotiated a price with a customer so that we are both satisfied!

Who are my models and why did I pick them?

Currently I have two models that I use to sell my clothing. The first model is Madeline, she is adorable, blonde and has a great shape for a lot of the clothing that I sell. She has been a close friend of mine for more than 15 years! Madeline is 5'6" and wears an extra-small/small in tops, 0-2 in skirts/pants, 26 in jeans.

My second model who has just started working with me is Angela. She is tall, brunette and adds a sexy look to the vintage pieces at Hanger Threads. Angela is another very close friend and always has the brightest smile on her face! Angela is 5'10" and wears a medium in tops, 6 in skirts, dresses and pants and a 29 in jeans.

I am just so excited to see Hanger Threads grow and I want to share it with you all! Please keep up with me and stay tuned for more updates and additions.
